Christmas hangover cure #1: Turmeric – the new wonder food?
Christmas is slam dunk my favourite time of year. Everybody’s happy, excited, and out to party. But it seems to me the pace just gets faster every year.
So my tip is: BE PREPARED!
And it’s much simpler than you’d think.
Did you know that thousands of years ago the Brahmins developed curry so that turmeric would be introduced into the diet in India?
Here’s the deal. They knew it was good. And I have it on good authority it’s fantastic for the liver and digestive system. What’s not to like?
Judi, a friend enjoying Tassie just as much as I am, gave me this recipe, and my liver and I haven’t looked back. Try it.
TURMERIC TEA
Ingredients:
1 Heaped teaspoon turmeric powder
½ heaped teaspoon cinnamon powder
1 inch raw ginger root, sliced thinly and cut crosswise again
½ small lemon, sliced thinly, skin and all
a grind of fresh black pepper
1 teaspoon of pure honey
Method:
Place all ingredients in a medium sized teapot and fill with boiling water. Let steep for 10 or so minutes and to cool a little before drinking.
I top this up when I’ve finished and the one mix lasts me about a good week or so.
Have first thing in the morning to give your body a real boost.
